Christmas in the UAE is a strange and lovely thing. There's no snow and no frost on the windows, but there are 22-degree evenings, decorated hotel lobbies and a lot of people far from home who want to celebrate properly. That's why so many families and friend groups here build their own Christmas, with a pool instead of a fireplace and a barbecue doing half the work of the turkey.
This year Christmas Day is a Friday, which gives most people a three-day weekend from 25 to 27 December. Schools close on 14 December, so the whole second half of the month is open for parties. It also means everyone is booking the same villas, yachts and entertainers. Here are the ideas worth planning around, in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with the vendors to call for each one.
Host Christmas at a Private Villa
A villa solves the biggest Christmas problem in the UAE: fitting everyone in. Apartments get crowded fast once the extended family, the neighbours and the friends who couldn't fly home all turn up.
Villa Royal in Jumeirah Park from Elan Pool Villas has seven bedrooms, a private pool, an outdoor Jacuzzi, a landscaped garden and a covered terrace with an outdoor barbecue kitchen. That's the full Dubai Christmas in one place. Put the tree on the terrace, the kids in the pool and the meat on the grill. With seven bedrooms, it also works as a base for family flying in for the long weekend.
Before you book any villa, ask about the maximum guest count, music cut-off times and whether you can hang lights outside. Residential communities in both cities take noise complaints seriously. Browse more party venues.
Keep the music going without upsetting the neighbours
This is the trick most villa hosts don't know about. Box Entertainment rents silent disco headsets with a three-channel setup, so one group can dance to Christmas classics while another listens to something else entirely. The garden stays quiet and the party doesn't have to stop at 11pm. They cover all seven emirates, and delivery, setup, on-site support and collection are included, with packages usually running from AED 2,000 to AED 15,000.
Box Entertainment also rents festoon lights and outdoor cinema kits. A Christmas film on a big screen in the garden is about the easiest way there is to keep a group of full, sleepy guests happy after lunch. Our National Day lighting guide covers how to light a garden properly, and if you're lighting up for National Day anyway, keep the warm white strings up for Christmas.

Take the Party Onto the Water
A yacht on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day is about as Dubai as Christmas gets. Late December sunsets come at around 5:30pm, so a late afternoon departure gives you daylight, a sunset over the skyline and the city lights on the way back.
YED Luxury Leisure Services offers private yacht charters in Dubai for social gatherings, corporate events and smaller groups. Reviewers mention booking at short notice for six people, so it's not only for big parties. Ask about bringing your own cake and decorations on board, and confirm the cruise route before you send out the timings.
Yachts go fast over the Christmas weekend. If 25 December is booked, 26 December is often the easier date, and nobody will mind spending Boxing Day at sea. Compare more yachts for hire.
A Christmas Dinner in the Desert
December is the best month of the year for the desert. Days are warm, nights are cool and the sky is clear. A long table on the sand, lanterns, a fire and dinner under the stars makes a Christmas people will tell their families back home about.
Qrated Event is a Dubai planner that lists desert adventures, yacht charters and private celebrations among its services, and it covers all seven emirates. That makes it one of the easier options if you want a desert evening outside Abu Dhabi rather than Dubai. A planner sorts out the camp, transport, seating and food, so your only job is turning up with the presents.
Two practical tips. Desert nights in December can drop well below 15 degrees, so tell guests to bring a jacket. And book transport early, because most camps are at least an hour's drive from Downtown Dubai or the Abu Dhabi Corniche. Find more event planners.
Office Christmas Party Ideas That Aren't Another Hotel Buffet
Christmas isn't a public holiday in the UAE, and 25 December is a normal Friday for many businesses. Most offices hold their party in the week before, from Monday 21 to Thursday 24 December, or the week before that if half the team flies out when the schools close.
Cook together
A shared activity does more for a team than a set menu ever will. Polline Restaurant & Cafe at Beach Walk Boutique Hotel in Umm Suqeim runs private two-hour pasta and pizza-making classes led by Chef Ali Elayet, followed by a three-course meal. It works for mixed teams, because nobody needs to be sporty or outgoing to roll pasta. Swap the usual secret Santa reveal to the dinner table afterwards.
Book a host who can also DJ
For a bigger party, someone needs to run the evening. Darryl Rees is a DJ, emcee and event host with more than 15 years of experience, and he covers Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the other emirates. He can host the awards and speeches, then switch to DJ once dinner's done. One booking instead of two, and the night doesn't stall between the formal part and the dancing.
Feed the team properly
Caroline Bakery does corporate catering, seasonal Christmas treats and custom dessert stations across all seven emirates, including Abu Dhabi. Corporate catering is listed from AED 999 for 10 adults, and a one-tier custom cake starts at AED 250. Ask for a dessert station with mince pies, gingerbread and a yule log next to the coffee, and put it where people have to walk past it.

A Kids' Christmas Party Without the Stress
With schools closed from 14 December, there's a full week before Christmas for a party with your children's friends. Many families travel, so send invites early and check who's still in the country.
Party Plan by Rula is a party planner and decorator known for balloon styling, floral work and themed backdrops, and works across all seven emirates. A gingerbread house theme, a red and white balloon arch or a backdrop for photos with Santa all work. The planner handles setup and clean-up, which means you aren't picking glitter out of the sofa on Christmas Eve.
Add a decorate-your-own cookie table from Caroline Bakery, whose kids' party catering for 10 children is listed from AED 699. Browse more kids' entertainers and decorators, or start from our kids' party planning page.
Add a Photo Booth for the Family Group Chat
Christmas is the one time of year when everyone dresses up, and half the guests will want to send a photo to family overseas. Give them somewhere good to take it.
PixTime is based in Abu Dhabi and covers Dubai and most of the other emirates. They run 360 camera booths, magic mirror booths and instant prints with branded frames, with delivery, setup and an operator included. Ask for a Christmas print overlay with your family or company name, and set the booth up in front of the tree. Compare more photo booths.
Your Christmas Party Booking Timeline
Now to mid-November: villas, yachts, desert planners and entertainers. These go first.
By 1 December: silent disco, lighting, decor and the photo booth.
Two weeks before: final guest numbers, catering and cakes.
The week of the party: confirm setup times, access and power with every vendor.
December is the busiest month of the year for event vendors in both cities, with National Day, Christmas and New Year's Eve all within a month. Pick suppliers who can move by a day if they need to. Find more ideas on our social gatherings page.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is Christmas 2026 in the UAE?
Christmas Day 2026 falls on Friday 25 December. It isn't a public holiday in the UAE, but because it's followed by the weekend, most people have 25 to 27 December free. UAE schools on the Ministry of Education calendar are on winter break from Monday 14 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027.
What are good Christmas party ideas in Dubai?
Popular ideas include a private villa party with a pool and barbecue, a sunset yacht cruise, a desert dinner under the stars, an office party with a cooking class or host-led evening, and a kids' party with a planner and themed decor. A photo booth and silent disco headsets are easy add-ons for any of them.
Can I find Christmas party vendors in Abu Dhabi?
Yes. Several vendors on The PartyPlatform cover Abu Dhabi as well as Dubai, including PixTime, which is based in Abu Dhabi, and Caroline Bakery, Party Plan by Rula, Qrated Event, Darryl Rees and Box Entertainment, which all list all seven emirates. Send one quote request and say which city your party is in.
When should companies in Dubai hold their office Christmas party?
Most companies hold it in the week before Christmas, between Monday 21 and Thursday 24 December. If many staff travel once schools close on 14 December, the week of 14 December is a safer choice. Book venues and entertainment at least five to six weeks ahead.
How far ahead should I book Christmas party vendors in Dubai and Abu Dhabi?
Book villas, yachts, desert planners and entertainers by mid-November. Lighting, decor, silent disco and photo booths should be booked by early December, and catering and cakes at least two weeks before the party.
